Bewdley (Worcs) Balsam Management Group (BMG)

Operating under the aegis of Bewdley Civic Society our focus is on control of the spread of Himalayan Balsam in our target area.

The objective was, and is, to remove Himalayan Balsam from the banks of the Severn and the key tributary of Dowles Brook from the immediate environs of the town and maintain that situation. Clearly of necessity, it is an ongoing exercise and we completed our ninth consecutive year in 2024.

The very effective low tech approach wholly entails volunteer pulling at optimum times in the season at key locations after close preliminary survey work. Things change, each year is different as environmental conditions evolve.

For further information about how we go about things please contact Steve Bent.
