Yellow-legged hornet update

The National Bee Unit (NBU) have provided the following update on yellow-legged hornet sightings in GB:

On Thursday 23rd January the National Bee Unit (NBU) received a report of a Yellow-Legged Hornet (YLH) discovered by a grocer in Shropshire. They were checking some shallots that had come from France. The NBU responded to the report and a bee inspector collected the hornet which was sent to Fera Science. Follow up activities will be done to raise awareness with the wholesaler and other possible UK customers.

Further information on can be found on the website of the National Bee Unit.

We would be grateful for your support in helping to raise awareness and encourage reporting of any further sightings. Any suspected sightings should ideally be reported via the Asian Hornet Watch app or the online reporting form. For more details on identification and reporting, including Alert posters and ID sheets to help with awareness raising, please visit the alert page.
